If you have recently purchased a GBA IPS Kit, such as the Game Boy Advance IPS V3 Kit - AV TV Output Mod, you may have noticed you received two similar ribbon cables:

This is because IPS kits come complete with a ribbon for a GBA 32 pin model and GBA 40 pin model. This ensures the best compatibility for all GBA models.

To determine which type of ribbon you will need, open up the battery compartment on the back of your GBA. You will notice a number listed inside:

If the number starts with a 0 you will require a 40 pin.

If the number starts with a 1 you will require a 32 pin.

Alternatively you can look by the ribbon port to see "32" or "40"
